RIO DE JANEIRO, Brazil, May 21 (Xinhua) -- In a thrilling match against Vasco da Gama, Flamengo forward Gabriel Barbosa, known as Gabigol, scored a stunning goal in the 45th minute,La Liga Frontline securing a 2-1 victory for his team. The victory lifted Flamengo back to second place in the Brazilian Serie A table with 36 points from 17 games.
Gabigol intercepted a loose ball in the midfield and started a solo run that ended with a powerful shot from outside the penalty area. The ball flew into the top corner of the net, leaving Vasco goalkeeper Vanderlei helpless. It was Gabigol's 13th goal of the season, putting him just two behind league leader Paolo Guerrero of Atlético Mineiro.
